Account

You can watch videos and use Video Summarizer without an account. Signing in is required to upload, follow, like, comment, save, block, and report.

The email or mobile number you enter to sign in is sent so we can sign you in.

If you create an account, we use the information you provide to sign you in. We store your username, name, photo, and description if you add them.

Content you publish

If you upload a video, we store the video, cover, description, and the comment settings you choose, so we can show the post on the feed. Your profile and published videos are visible to other people using the app. You can delete a video you published from the app.

If you post a comment, like, follow a channel, or save a video, that activity is stored so the app can work as intended.

Before you publish, you confirm that you have the right to upload and share the video. You keep the rights to your content. When you publish, you give Aparatchi permission to host and show it in the app. We review uploaded content and remove videos that infringe copyright or violate our policies.

Video Summarizer

Video Summarizer runs on your device. We do not send the video you select, or the summary it produces, to Aparatchi servers.

You can use it to draft a description when you upload. That draft stays on your device. If you publish the post, the description is stored with your video.

Speech-to-text uses Apple’s Speech Recognition. Depending on your device, language, and settings, Apple may process audio on-device or through Apple’s services. Supported languages currently include English, French, German, and Romanian.

Permissions

These are optional. You can keep using the app if you decline, and you can change them later in iOS Settings.

• Camera — Allowing camera access lets you record videos in the app. Your camera is used only when you choose to create a video.
• Microphone — Allowing microphone access lets you record sound when you create videos in the app. Your microphone is used only when you choose to record a video.
• Photo Library — Allowing photo library access lets you pick videos from your gallery to upload in the app, and lets the app save videos you record to your gallery.
• Location — Allowing location access helps the app show videos relevant to your location. Your location is used only for this purpose.
• Speech Recognition — Allowing speech recognition lets the app turn your video’s audio into text. Apple may process audio on-device or through its services.

Block, report, and not interested

If you block a user from their channel, we store that so we can hide their videos from you. Blocking also removes follow between you. You can unblock them from their channel.

If you mark a video as not interested, we hide that video from your feed.

If you report a video or a comment, we receive what you reported and the reason you chose so we can review it. Reasons include copyright, privacy, harassment, harmful or illegal content, spam, or other. You can also use Contact.

Delete your account

You can delete your account in the app: open Profile, then Settings, then Delete account.

This permanently deletes your account and the content you published. You can also use Contact to ask us to delete your account.

Device and app information

When the app talks to our servers, we may receive basic technical information needed to run the service, such as app version and device type.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Playback

When you watch a video, the app may send a device identifier, your user id if you are signed in, and playback details such as which video you watched and how it played. It may also send basic device and app details needed to operate the player.

Website contact

If you use the contact form on this website, we receive the name, email address, and message you submit so we can reply.

Retention

We keep account data and published content for as long as your account is active and as needed to operate the service. We keep playback information as needed to operate the player. We keep website contact messages and reports as long as needed to reply or review them.

Videos you summarize on your device are not stored on our servers unless you publish that text with an upload.

Children’s privacy

Aparatchi is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, use Contact so we can delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest changes.
